Pass the Rouge x SHOPSTYLE: Our New York City Winter Style
This post will be a little bit different than our traditional post as that we will be talking about FASHION! As you may know we live in New York City, and our style most definitely reflects the city we live in. We joined forces with SHOPSTYLE to show you some of the items of clothing we consider to be staples for us. We tend to avoid bright colors during the winter months- but we do infuse some prints into our everyday look. So let’s get started!
We love denim– anyone at any age can rock it! Here is a interesting spin on a traditional denim top from Joe Fresh, and we paired it with a hunter green tank. You can top it off with black leggings, or if you feel daring pair it with dark denim pants. Denim on denim can be a HUGE no-no, but done properly it can really add lots of dimension to an outfit.
Next we have a faux fur sweater- we love wearing this underneath a leather jacket. We feel like Penny Lane from Almost Famous in this sweater. Not only is this sweater SUPER trendy, but it’s also really warm!
These Sam Edelman ankle booties were on super super sale at Bloomingdales so it was a no brainer purchase! The gold buckle accents give it a downtown feel while still looking polished. You can wear these booties with jeans, or with thick winter tights and a dress.
A scarf and ear muffs are a must during the winter months… not only will they prevent frost bite but they’re actually really cute too! This cashmere scarf was a birthday gift from friends a few years ago, so it hold sentimental value to me.
A black bag is a staple for us– regardless if you live in NYC or SoCal–every girl needs a classic black bag. This Prada bag is a fairly new purchase from Saks Fifth Avenue, and the size is deceiving as it holds two makeup bags, my lunch, wallet, umbrella, and other random stuff. This bag is a huge splurge but it’s one of those pieces that will always be a classic.
This Jack Dakota sweater/jacket was such a steal! This piece can be dressed up or down which is a important to us when purchasing jackets. You can even pair it with this French Connection skater dress for a night out with girlfriends or a dinner date with a special someone.
